Company X has significantly increased the price of Premium Plus subscription for users in several regions.

Here's What We Know

As of 21 December 2024, the subscription price in the US has increased from $16 to $22 per month, while the annual subscription has risen from $168 to $229. In Europe, including France, Germany and Spain, the monthly subscription price increased from €16 to €21. Canada, Australia and the UK have also seen prices rise, to $26, $35 and £17 respectively.

X cites the main reason for the price increase as the complete absence of adverts in Premium Plus, which greatly improves the user experience. The company has also made changes to its revenue sharing programme so that subscriptions directly support payments to content creators. Premium Plus subscribers will receive prioritised user support and access to additional features such as the Radar trend monitoring tool and higher limits on Grok AI models.

The new prices apply immediately to new subscribers, while existing users will retain their current rates until 20 January 2025. The base X subscription tier remains unchanged. The price changes for US subscribers are the most significant since the platform was acquired by Ilon Musk in 2022.
