Meta Ray-Ban smartphones may get a display as early as next year
Meta smartphones, developed in partnership with Ray-Ban, are becoming increasingly popular thanks to the integration of artificial intelligence.
Here's What We Know
This technology may become even more popular thanks to the announcement of Android XR and the emergence of smartphones from Samsung and Google. According to the Financial Times insider, Meta is probably planning to integrate a small display into its smartphones, which could happen in the second half of 2025. However, the first news about this product may appear as early as the beginning of next year.
Currently, Meta's Ray-Ban smartphones do not have a display, and all functions are accessible via the touchscreen or voice commands. However, the company aims to make them even more convenient by adding the ability to display graphical information. The new display is expected to be used to show notifications and visual responses from Meta AI rather than large colour images. This is in line with the company's philosophy of simplicity and minimalism.
Meta is also actively working on the Orion AR glasses project. Since the interest in this product has been huge, development has been accelerated. The company is currently optimising the hardware, shape, image quality, and price, trying to avoid the mistakes made by Apple with Vision Pro.
Due to the success of Ray-Ban smart glasses, which are noted for their comfort and affordable price, Meta will probably continue to produce separate lines for simple smart glasses and for AR devices.
