According to a new leak, Apple plans to begin mass production of its new M5 chips in the first half of 2025.

Here's What We Know

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the M5 chips will be manufactured using TSMC's 3-nanometre process technology, which will deliver a 5% improvement in performance and a 10% reduction in power consumption compared to previous models.

Apple also plans to introduce a new "server-class" chip design for the M5 Pro and M5 Ultra models, which will reduce their size by 30-50 per cent and improve thermal performance. Unlike previous models, which combined the CPU and GPU into a single chip, the new M5 chips will separate these components to optimise their operation and improve performance, especially in AI-related tasks.

Ming-Chi Kuo also said that mass production of the M5 Pro and M5 Ultra chips will begin in the second half of 2025 and 2026, respectively.
