Apple is likely to fail to release the first bezel-less iPhone by 2026, as previously planned.

Here's What We Know

According to the Korean publication The Elec, the company is facing serious technical difficulties while working on a new display technology in partnership with Samsung Display and LG Display. However, the work on this project has not yielded the expected results for a long time.

Apple is likely planning to create an iPhone with a bezel-less display, which will be significantly different from the current curved screens used, for example, by Samsung smartphones or Xiaomi's "quad curved waterfall display" concept.

Their goal is to avoid the problem of image distortion on the curved edges of the screen, which happens in many modern smartphones. Therefore, the company is trying to find a way to smoothly wrap the screen around the edges while maintaining a flat surface, like the Apple Watch.

However, the development of new technology, such as optical adhesive (OCA) technology, has been challenging due to distortion of the image from side angles and the need to ensure that the display is protected from damage.

Apple had hoped that mass production of this technology would begin by 2026 for the iPhone 18, but according to insiders, negotiations with suppliers are still ongoing. This means that the release of the "bezel-less" iPhone model is likely to be delayed.

The new iPhone with a revolutionary display may not appear until 2027.
