Samsung releases December 2024 security update for Galaxy Tab S9 FE 5G that addresses vulnerabilities
Samsung has released a new software update for the Galaxy Tab S9 FE 5G tablet that brings the December 2024 security patch.
Here's What We Know
This update fixes several security vulnerabilities, the details of which can be found in the official list.
Currently, the new software version is only available for the US fixed contract model with model number SM-X518U. The update has been assigned the firmware number X518USQS8BXK6.
How To Switch It On
To get the update, you need to go to the tablet settings, select "Software update" and click "Download and install". You can also download the firmware from the Firmware section on SamMobile and install it via Odin. However, before using the manual method, you should make a backup of your data.
Samsung is expected to roll out this update to other Galaxy Tab S9 FE 5G variants in the coming days, so users outside the US won't have to wait long.
It is also worth noting that this tablet will receive an update to Android 15 with One UI 7.0, which will bring many new features. You can learn more about the new software in the video.
This year, Samsung delayed the release of the One UI update for a while, as, according to sources, the company wanted to implement significant improvements to the user experience.
One UI 7 contains significant changes to the interface design, including a new look for the Quick Settings panel, customisation options, a separate page for notifications, and smooth animations and transitions.
There are also new application icons with gradient backgrounds, improved support for one-handed operation, and a new camera application.
