Chinese sources have revealed that Apple is working on a new iPhone 17, which is rumoured to get a long-awaited display upgrade.

Here's What We Know

Unlike previous base models such as the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, which had a standard 60Hz refresh rate, it is reported that the new iPhone 17 will support a higher refresh rate. This was reported by a well-known Chinese whistleblower Digital Chat Station.

The Pro and Pro Max variants are already equipped with ProMotion technology, which provides adaptive refresh rates from 1 to 120 Hz. The feature is expected to be available for the entire 2025 iPhone lineup. While the exact refresh rate is not yet known, it will probably be 90Hz.

Apple is also reportedly working on a new iPhone 17 Air model, which is rumoured to be around 6mm thick. This model could compete with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim, which could also get a slim body.
