Something went wrong: the ambitious shooter Astropulse: Reincarnation from veteran Blizzard has been cancelled and the studio closed
In April 2024, Imagendary Studios, founded by former Blizzard lead artist Wei Wang, presented the announcement trailer of its debut project - a third-person shooter with RPG elements Astropulse: Reincarnation.
The trailer looked extremely atmospheric and unusual, and the developers said that Astropulse: Reincarnation will be the beginning of a large-scale media franchise, which will include subsequent games, mini-series, short films, comics and other projects.
But, unfortunately, their ambitious plans are not destined to come true.
Here's What We Know
Reputable dataminer and insider Kurakasis brought to the public's attention a report by Julian Calle, one of the game's developers. He said that he had the opportunity to work on Astropulse: Reincarnation with a team of talented and experienced artists for about four months, but unfortunately the project has been cancelled and the studio is closed.
It seems like nobody has mentioned this, so I'm sharing in case anyone's interested:

Astropulse: Reincarnation has been cancelled, and its developer, Imagendary Studios, has shut down. This information comes from Julian Calle, who worked on the game for some time. pic.twitter.com/6d7AiNZ8bQ
There was no official statement from Imagendary Studios or Wei Wang, but their publicks have been inactive for a while, and apart from the trailer, no information about the game has appeared.
As a reminder, Astropulse: Reincarnation was supposed to be a story-driven science fiction game set in a dystopian future, where 250 million years ago a meteorite struck Earth, bringing unknown energy that changed the course of evolution. As a result of this event, new species and civilisations emerged on Earth, and all of them fought for survival. In addition, supernatural creatures have also settled on the planet, which pose a huge threat to all living things.
