Galaxy S25 is likely to get support for updates without the need for a reboot
Recently, rumours have surfaced that the Galaxy S25 series may become the first line of Samsung's flagship smartphones to support updates without the need to reboot the device.
Here's What We Know
This has now been confirmed by new leaks, according to which the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra will indeed have this feature.
Android Authority reports that in one of the leaks related to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, they found files that confirm support for this feature. This is an important step for Samsung, because after eight years of introducing continuous updates to Android, the company has finally implemented them on its smartphones. Now this feature will be available on even more devices.
Continuous updates allow you to keep two system partitions on your smartphone. The operating system is installed on both partitions, but only works from one, while the other serves as a backup. When a new update is released, it is installed on the backup partition. After rebooting, the device boots from the updated partition. This allows updates to take place in the background without having to wait for them to complete, which is more convenient than traditional updates that require a reboot and temporarily block the device from being used.
Currently, only the Galaxy A55 supports this feature. Given the advances in this area, we can expect the Galaxy S25 to be able to work around the memory limitations while maintaining a balance between supporting continuous updates and sufficient space for users.
