Samsung's Galaxy S25 series may get the new car crash detection feature found in Google's Pixel devices
Samsung's Galaxy S25 series will be equipped with a car crash detection sensor, a new leak reveals. This feature, as of now, is only available on Google's Pixel smartphones.
Here's What We Know
Pixel devices use special sensors and location data along with artificial intelligence to determine if the owner is in a car, and will detect if they've been in an accident. If there is an accident, the smartphone or Pixel watch will send a call to emergency services as well as close contacts. The location of the user in this case is also transmitted in real time.
This sensor was already present in previous Samsung flagships such as the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, but the crash detection feature has not been activated until now. The leaked Galaxy S25 Ultra files also confirm the presence of the sensor in the new models, but Samsung is yet to release a user interface for the feature.
The sensor is a virtual composite sensor that processes data from multiple physical sensors. The One UI 5.1.1.1 firmware already has a hidden MoccaMobile system app that contains code to start and stop the sensor, but the feature has not been activated yet.
It is expected that with the release of the Galaxy S25 series, the crash detection feature will finally become available, giving users extra peace of mind and safety on the roads.
