In June 2024, Microsoft and Undead Labs presented the second trailer of zombie action game State of Decay 3, which was announced in 2020. The developers never named the release date of the game, but in the network regularly appeared the most different versions, up to its release in 2028.

Authoritative insider Jez Corden, who has repeatedly made positive statements about State of Decay 3, shared important news and the project.

Here's What We Know

On the New Year's Eve edition of the Xbox Two podcast, Jez Corden revealed that State of Decay 3 has made significant progress in development that has not yet been announced to the public. The game is almost ready and could very well be released in late 2025, but it's likely Microsoft will decide to schedule the release for early 2026. Corden sees the main reason for this as the over-saturated 2025 release schedule of games from Microsoft's internal studios, including Avowed, Doom: The Dark Ages, The Outer Worlds 2, South of Midnight, Towerborne, and Fable.

Plus, no one wants competition from GTA VI, which is scheduled for release in autumn 2025, either.

Corden is confident that State of Decay 3 will be a great game and will not disappoint fans of previous parts.
