2025 will be an important year for NieR fans: series producer hints at exciting news
After the phenomenal success of NieR: Automata, which sold over 9 million copies a few days ago, many gamers are hoping for a sequel to the hit game from Square Enix, PlatinumGames and eccentric game designer Yoko Taro.
"Maybe NieR, maybe something else..." - NieR: Automata team hints at development of a new game at such a possibility and even indirectly confirmed the development of a new game, but another statement from one of the team members left no doubt that the series will continue in one form or another.
Here's What We Know
A few days ago, the 4Gamer website published statements from Japanese developers from various studios about their plans for 2025. The producer of NieR series Yosuke Saito could not remain silent.
He said the following:
2025 will be a milestone year, as it will soon be the 15th anniversary of the NieR series, so I'd like to do something about it! What should we do... maybe something related to the next game? I've heard the expectations of the fans of the game and would appreciate it if you could patiently wait for what happens next.
It's impossible to 100% say that Yosuke Saito is referring specifically to a new game in the NieR series, but it's hard to otherwise interpret his words other than a promise to announce a long-awaited sequel. However, it's possible that a Drakengard-related project - of which NieR is a spin-off - is also in development.
