A resounding success for the indie developer: Stardew Valley sales have surpassed 41 million copies!
The cute farming simulator Stardew Valley, created by lone developer Eric Barone, has undoubtedly become one of the most successful indie games in the history of the industry.
The author spent six years of his life creating it, and once nearly deleted all of his work when he thought the game was going nowhere. Immediately after the release of Stardew Valley in 2016, it became obvious that Barone's work more than paid off, but the final result is really impressive.
Here's What We Know
A section with a brief history of the game appeared on the Stardew Valley website. It states that in December 2024, its sales exceeded 41 million copies, of which 26 million were sold on PC and 7.9 million - on Nintendo Switch, the rest of the circulation came to PlayStation and Xbox.
Thanks to constant updates and full openness of Eric Barone, Stardew Valley not only does not lose popularity, but every year breaks records and attracts a huge number of new players.
Recall, at the moment the American developer is creating a similar game Haunted Chocolatier, but the author will share details about it only when he is fully confident in the quality of the project.
