Tesla has offered free lifetime charging on the Supercharger network for Cybertruck Foundation Series electric pickup trucks in stock in the US. The US electric vehicle maker has dozens of unsold limited edition Cybertruck left in stock. This special offer could be the latest attempt by Ilon Musk's company to get rid of idle electric vehicles.

Here's What We Know

The Tesla Cybertruck Foundation Series was the first to go on sale. The pickups in this series had a $20,000 higher price tag than the regular Cybertruck, which went on sale in October. Foundation Series buyers received priority delivery of the new model, lifetime use of Tesla's enhanced Tesla Full Self-Driving (Supervised) driving assistance package, support for Powershare bi-directional charging, and several additional options.

Most interestingly, the first Foundation Series buyers didn't get free lifetime access to Tesla's Supercharger network of fast charging stations. Instead, the company is now offering it to those who want the angular pickup truck from stock. Albeit with some conditions.

Specifically, the promotion is "subject to change or termination at any time," meaning the automaker can cancel the bonus overnight without notice. What's more, the offer is tied to the Tesla owner's account and cannot be transferred to another vehicle, person, or order, even if ownership is transferred. Another odd condition is that Tesla reserves the right, at its discretion, to remove the free Supercharger subscription in the event of "excessive charging or unpaid fees" associated with it. What would be considered "excessive" usage in this case is not specified.

How much does it cost?

Tesla has two versions of the Cybertruck Foundation Series: a $99,990 version with two electric motors and a range of up to 340 miles (547 kilometres) on the EPA cycle, and a $119,990 Cyberbeast with three motors and a range of up to 320 miles (515 kilometres). A regular Cybertruck, not in the Foundation Series, can be bought for $20,000 cheaper. In that case, you'll get three months of free charging on the Supercharger network.
