LG has announced the new UltraGear OLED 45GX990A flexible gaming monitor, which will be presented at CES 2025 in Las Vegas.

Here's What We Know

This monitor combines a 45-inch panel with a 5K2K resolution and the ability to quickly change shape between a flat and curved screen with a 900R radius. According to the company, users will be able to change the curvature of the monitor in seconds, thanks to a motorised system that makes it easy to adapt the screen to different gaming environments.

The UltraGear OLED 45GX990A has a resolution of 5120 x 2160 pixels, which provides a pixel density of 125 PPI. For improved readability, the new monitor uses RGWB backlighting, as well as a special Anti-Glare Low Reflection (AGLR) coating that reduces glare and reflections on the screen. This is especially important for gamers who spend a lot of time at the monitor, as it reduces eye strain.

The monitor supports variable refresh rate (VRR), which guarantees a smooth picture without jerking during games. It also supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-SYNC technologies, which eliminate tearing and ensure perfect synchronisation between the GPU and monitor. The monitor's advanced response technology is as low as 0.03ms GtG, allowing for incredible image clarity in fast-moving environments.

Although the exact refresh rate of the monitor has not yet been revealed, there is speculation that the UltraGear OLED 45GX990A can support up to 165Hz at 5K2K resolution. This requires a high bandwidth of up to 60.18Gbps, so the DisplayPort 2.1 port should be UHBR20 compliant for the monitor to work flawlessly without the need for DSC compression.

LG is expected to reveal all the technical details of the monitor during its full presentation at CES 2025.
