Toyota has applied for trademark registration for the Hilux Travo, which may be the name of the next generation pick-up truck
Toyota's legendary Hilux pickup truck, which has become a symbol of reliability and versatility over the decades, may soon get a new generation. On 23 December 2024, the Japanese carmaker filed an application to register the Hilux Travo trademark with the Intellectual Property Department of Thailand.
Here's What We Know
The name "Travo" could be the designation for the ninth generation Hilux. The fact is that each iteration of the model in Thailand has its own name. For example, the Hilux Revo (eighth generation) and the Hilux Vigo (seventh generation). In other countries, the model is known simply as the Hilux.
Headlightmag expects that the official premiere of the Toyota Hilux Travo will take place in 2025, although there has been no official announcement from the manufacturer yet. According to preliminary information, the vehicle will retain the frame structure with some technical tweaks. You can expect a new design of the front and rear of the car. However, the design of the cabin, doors and side panels will remain the same.

The updated Hilux is likely to offer:
A mild-hybrid 2.8-litre diesel four (already available in the current generation). The hybridised powertrain will be complemented by conventional petrol and diesel modifications adapted to Euro-5 and Euro-6 environmental standards (depending on the market). In addition, by the end of 2025, a fully electric version of the pickup truck will enter serial production in Thailand.
The current generation Hilux arrived in 2015 and has been kept toned down with updates in 2017, 2020 and 2024. The latter added a new front bumper and grille.
