The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine held a demonstration of FPV drones controlled via fibre optics
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine held a demonstration of the latest FPV drones controlled via fibre optics. The event brought together domestic developers who presented more than a dozen models of such drones.
Here's What We Know
The demonstration included FPV drones capable of carrying up to 3 kg of payload. This opens up opportunities for their use in both reconnaissance and combat operations. According to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine welcomed the developments, expressing particular interest in the possibilities of using drones in their units.
Lieutenant Colonel Yevhen Tkachenko, Head of the Defence Ministry's Unmanned Aircraft Systems Department, said:
"The enemy continues to build up its Russia has begun using new FPV drones with fibre-optic cables that are invisible to electronic warfare, so it is imperative to levelling its advantages in this segment. Domestic manufacturers demonstrate their readiness to quickly adapt to the current challenges of war and implement the latest developments.
Why It Matters
The use of fibre-optic FPV drones is critical to modern warfare, as this solution minimises vulnerability to enemy electronic warfare (EW). This approach ensures stable communication between the operator and the drone, even in areas where jammers are heavily used, which allows the drone to maintain controllability and effectiveness in the most difficult combat conditions. This significantly enhances the Armed Forces' capabilities in technological confrontation.
What's next.
The presented drones are at the final stage of codification, which means they are ready for serial supply to the army. The introduction of these technologies will be an important step in strengthening the combat capabilities of the Armed Forces and responding to modern challenges on the battlefield.
This is yet another example of how Ukrainian engineers and the military effectively cooperate to create innovations in wartime.
