Samsung announces the launch of Galaxy A16 5G in the US: smartphone available for $199
Samsung has announced the availability of the Galaxy A16 5G in the US. The smartphone, which was first unveiled in October 2024, will go on sale from 9 January 2025 at a starting price of $199.
Here's What We Know
The Galaxy Fit 3, a fitness tracker with a 50% discount when purchased with the phone, will be offered alongside the device.
The Galaxy A16 5G features a 6.17-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and up to 800 nits of brightness. The 13-megapixel front camera is integrated into the notch. The Exynos 1330 is responsible for performance (unlike the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 in the Nigerian version). The smartphone is based on Android 14 and will receive 6 OS updates and 6 years of security.
The main camera has three modules: 50 megapixels, 5 megapixels (ultra-wide) and 2 megapixels (macro). The 5000 mAh battery supports 25W fast charging. Other features include IP54, NFC, and a side fingerprint scanner. However, the smartphone lacks an audio jack, like its predecessor, the Galaxy A15 5G.
For US buyers, the Galaxy A16 5G has additional benefits. The smartphone comes with access to Samsung TV Plus, a two-month subscription to YouTube Premium, and a three-month subscription to Peacock.
The model is available in Blue Black and Light Gray colours. Samsung aims to make the Galaxy A16 5G an attractive choice among budget devices by providing a high-quality display, a long update cycle, and additional services.
This model is likely to become popular among those looking for an affordable and modern smartphone.
