All-in-one system: LG announces xDC integrated controller platform for cars
LG Electronics, together with Qualcomm Technologies, will unveil a new Cross Domain Controller (xDC) platform at CES 2025. This all-in-one solution integrates the infotainment system (IVI) and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) into a single controller based on the Snapdragon Ride Flex system-on-a-chip.
Here's What We Know
Modern cars are becoming increasingly complex. This requires centralised computers to efficiently manage numerous functions. The xDC platform addresses this challenge:
- Integration of ADAS, automated driving functions with infotainment systems;
- Fast data processing thanks to the ASIL-D certified Flex SoC - the highest level of safety in the automotive industry;
- Reduced component costs by integrating multiple systems into one.
The LG xDC platform processes data from IVI and ADAS simultaneously, improving the overall driving experience. The driver and front seat passenger access a wide range of information through the vehicle's main display. This includes critical ADAS alerts such as distance to the vehicle ahead and lane departure warnings, as well as alternative routes based on current road conditions. The system can even provide useful lifestyle information, such as promotions from frequently visited shops.
LG and Qualcomm will demonstrate the xDC platform at CES 2025, which will be held from 7-10 January in Las Vegas. The companies expect the technology to be key to the transition to software-driven cars.
LG will also unveil at CES 2025 a future van concept called "Lifestyle Solution for Mobility" and an in-car sensor system known as "AI In-Vehicle Experience".
