Apple CEO Tim Cook has joined other big businessmen who have made significant donations to the inauguration fund of US President-elect Donald Trump. This was reported by Axios on the eve of the inauguration, which will take place on 20 January.

Here's What We Know

According to reports, Tim Cook will personally make a $1 million donation to Trump's inaugural committee. Last month, Cook visited Mar-a-Lago in Florida, where he met with Trump. The meeting was also attended by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg met with Trump in Mar-a-Lago in late November, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai held talks with him in December. Trump also met with Jeff Bezos and other influential businessmen from the tech industry.

Companies such as Meta, Amazon, and Uber have already donated $1 million to Trump's inaugural fund. OpenAI's Altman himself has also joined the initiative. Outside of Silicon Valley, Ford, Toyota, GM, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Coinbase, and others have contributed to the fund.

Cook met with and received praise from Trump on numerous occasions during his first term, and now other tech leaders are trying to emulate this strategy in Trump's second term. In October, Cook discussed Apple's problems in the European Union with Trump. Trump promised not to allow the EU to "use" American companies if he is elected to a second term.

This week, Meta revamped its political team ahead of Trump's inauguration.
