The Witcher 4 director wants "every NPC in the game to look like they're living their own story"
During The Game Awards 2024, the long-awaited debut of The Witcher 4 took place. Although we didn't see any gameplay, the trailer was aimed at reflecting the visual style and tone of the game. Despite the absence of gameplay footage, the developer shared some intriguing details about the game's mechanics and design.
Here's What We Know
In an interview with content creator Parris Lilly, game director Sebastian Kalemba spoke about the studio's ambitions for NPCs in The Witcher 4. According to Kalemba, the team is focused on making each NPC feel alive, with unique stories and behaviours to enhance player immersion.
CDPR has also previously confirmed that Ciri will be the new main character, played by a new actress. However, Geralt of Rivia will return in some capacity, and Doug Cockle will reprise his iconic role. Details about Geralt's participation remain unclear.
The Witcher 4 will feature an open world similar in size to the previous instalment, and the beloved card game Gwent is likely to return. Fans can expect further updates as development progresses.
