Xpeng and Volkswagen will combine their charging stations in China to form one of the largest fast charging networks in China
Chinese electric car maker Xpeng and Volkswagen Group China have entered into a memorandum of understanding for strategic co-operation on fast charging.
Here's What We Know
Through this strategic co-operation, more than 20,000 Xpeng and Volkswagen charging stations in 420 cities in China will be available to customers of both companies. In addition, XPeng and Volkswagen plan to jointly build one of the country's largest network of fast charging stations under a common brand.
The two sides plan to explore further opportunities for strategic co-operation, expand technological co-operation and strengthen mutually beneficial strategic partnership.
Xpeng and Volkswagen
Volkswagen bought a 5 per cent stake in Xpeng Motors in 2023.
Early last year, Volkswagen announced the start of production in China of a new model jointly developed with Xpeng. The novelty will enter the assembly line in 2026.
In addition, last summer Xpeng Motors and Volkswagen Group signed an agreement on strategic cooperation and joint development of a new car platform.
