A few years ago, Sony announced that a film based on the hit samurai action film Ghost of Tsushima was in production. Other than the fact that the director is Chad Stahelski - the author of the action series "John Wick", and one of the roles, possibly performed by Hiroyuki Sanada - the star of the historical series "Shōgun" (Shōgun), there was no information about the film.

But it turned out that the famous game from Sucker Punch studio will get another film adaptation.

Here's What We Know

At Sony's press conference at CES-2025 it became known about an anime series based on Ghost of Tsushima. It will be produced by Crunchyroll, Aniplex, Sony Music and Kamikaze Douga studio, known for Star Wars: Visions and Batman Ninja.

The series will be directed by Takanobu Mizuno, and the story will be written by Gen Urobuchi, based on the events of the Legends co-op mode for Ghost of Tsushima.

The game's mythological world and fantastic Legends mode are the perfect foundation for the new format.

It is planned that the series will premiere in 2027.

Recall, Ghost of Tsushima was released in 2020 and is one of the most poetic and historically accurate games in the setting of feudal Japan. In 2024, it was finally released on PC, and already in the coming year is expected to release Ghost of Yotei - sequel, the events of which will unfold three hundred years after the end of the story of Jin Sakai - in 1603.
