On the night of 7-8 January, Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces carried out a successful attack on a Russian state reserve warehouse that provides fuel for aircraft at the Engels airfield. It is from this location that planes that bombard Ukraine's civilian infrastructure constantly take off.

Here's What We Know

Around 30 powerful explosions were recorded near an oil depot in the Saratov region of Russia, followed by a large-scale fire. The strike was extremely effective and can leave the enemy aircraft without fuel for a long time.

The Ukrainian General Staff did not say what was used in such an effective strike, but a well-known Ukrainian team of OSINT-analysts "Oko Gora" (Oko Gora) believes that one of the newest Ukrainian drones "Chaklun-V" (Chaklun-V), which entered service with the AFU in October 2024, was used.

The Chaklun-V is known to be a manoeuvrable and fast drone, with a range of up to 700km and a 20kg payload. The UAV is characterised by high resistance to electronic warfare, which makes it difficult to throw it off course, as the operation in Engels proved.

Ukrainian developers have equipped the Chaklun with advanced software, which allows to effectively control the UAV even in difficult weather conditions.
