German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has announced new arms supplies to Ukraine and plans for 2025. He made this information public during the 25th meeting in the Ramstein format.

Here's What We Know

In particular, he noted that this year Ukraine is to receive six IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile systems, which have already been announced. These will include three IRIS-T SLS short-range and three IRIS-T SLM medium-range systems. These systems will also receive additional missiles that were originally contracted for the Bundeswehr.

In addition, in 2025, Ukraine is to receive 13 more Gepard self-propelled air defence systems. And it should be added that the German government is also financing the purchase of a total of 480,000 rounds of ammunition for them. And the latest order for 180,000 HEI-T high-explosive incendiary rounds was placed just the other day.

At the end of 2024, 30 M-84 tanks and 30 M-80A infantry fighting vehicles were transferred to Ukraine as part of a circular exchange with Croatia. In return, Zagreb received a discount on the purchase of 50 Leopard 2A8 tanks. In 2025, Germany will also deliver 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, 22 Leopard 1A5 tanks, and the first 155-mm RCH-155 automated self-propelled artillery systems.

In total, Germany has ordered 54 RCH-155s, which exceeds the initial number of 18 units announced in December 2022.
