Destiny of nations on the couch: Sid Meier's Civilisation VII will get full Steam Deck compatibility on release day
The release of the historical 4X-strategy Sid Meierʼs Civilisation VII will take place on the 11th of February.
The new part will be the first game of the cult series, which will be released simultaneously on PC and current consoles, but it turned out that Firaxis studio took care of users of portable gaming platforms in advance.
Here's What We Know
The developers announced that Sid Meierʼs Civilisation VII will be fully compatible with Steam Deck from the first day after release. This means that Firaxis employees and Valve engineers made sure that the game works correctly and guarantee that gamers will have no problems with installing and running Civilisation 7 on Steam Deck.
Sid Meierʼs Civilisation VII will be available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
Flashback
Civilisation VII will be the biggest game in the series. In terms of visual style, the strategy game is midway between the realism of the fifth instalment and the cartoonishness of the sixth. For the first time in Sid Meier's Civilisation, the player will control not a whole nation, but a separate chain of states, which he (the nation) formed during its history. They will change after the end of each historical epoch - this mechanic should diversify gameplay and encourage players to complete games more often, rather than starting new ones each time.
Civilisation VII will feature three time eras: Antiquity, Age of Discovery, and the present day, and each stage offers players different goals, priorities, features, and gameplay options. The leader of a nation can become not only a military man or a politician, now this option will be available to scientists, philosophers and other representatives of the intellectual community.
