BYD is preparing to launch its Yuan Up compact electric crossover in the UK and Europe. Here it's dubbed the Atto 2 and will hit the market as early as February 2025.
Here's What We Know
The Atto 2 is the little brother of the Atto 3. It has a similar design, but at the back you can spot fancy lights in the shape of the number 8. The car will be available in Climbing grey, Hiking green, Skiing white and Cosmos black colours.
The model is built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 platform and features BYD's proprietary "Blade Battery" which is integrated right into the chassis. The entry-level version will get a 45.1 kWh battery and a range of around 312 kilometres (194 miles). The 130 kW (174 hp) electric motor is located at the front. A version with a larger battery is expected later.
With a wheelbase of 2.6 m, the Atto 2 crossover promises a spacious interior with large displays, a flat floor and a 400-litre boot.
Competitors
The Atto 2 comes up against serious rivals such as the Jeep Avenger, Volvo EX30 and VW ID.4 BYD must bank on its renowned battery and attractive price/performance ratio to catch the eye of European buyers.
