The HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) is based on the M1140 FMTV truck chassis and can launch precision-guided munitions of various ranges, including the M57 ATACMS short-range ballistic missile with a maximum range of 300 km. It is designed to engage enemy targets such as artillery systems, vehicles, armoured vehicles and air defence assets.

Italy will be the next European country to use HIMARS to enhance the combat capabilities of its armed forces.
