Apple will reportedly not release a foldable iPhone in 2025, which means no competition for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and other foldable smartphones. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the foldable iPhone is still in the planning stage and will not be ready for mass production until the end of 2025.

Here's What We Know

It was previously reported that Apple could release a foldable iPhone later this year, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Samsung, on the other hand, plans to release the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in the second half of 2025, and the lack of competition from Apple could play into the company's hands. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to feature a new, more power-efficient OLED panel and possibly a 3nm Exynos 2500 chip.

As for Apple's upcoming foldable smartphone, it is rumoured that it will only support eSIM, like the upcoming iPhone 17 Air, and will also have a fairly thin body. The first foldable iPhone probably won't be released until the second half of 2026 at the earliest, according to another prominent analyst Jeff Pu, so it will only be able to compete with the Galaxy Z Flip 8.
