Well-known insider and horror expert Dusk Golem has repeatedly stated that Capcom has heard the wishes of gamers and is preparing a remake of Resident Evil Zero. And now he shared new information, which sounds extremely interesting.

Here's What We Know

Dusk Golem has information that Capcom has signed a deal with Nintendo for marketing support for Resident Evil Zero Remake. According to him, the updated horror game will be released in the Switch 2's launch year and will not only be available on that device, but may also be its temporary exclusive, although the game is definitely being developed with an eye on multiplatform.

Dusk Golem believes Capcom will position the updated Resident Evil Zero as "the perfect entry point into an established franchise", as the game itself is a prequel to the main Resident Evil instalments.

Resident Evil Zero Remake will most likely be released in 2026 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the series. This is probably true for Resident Evil IX as well. (Clarification: if Nintendo Switch 2 is released after 31 March 2025, that would already be the next financial year, hence releasing the game before 31 March 2026 is consistent with the wording "in the year of Switch 2's release").

In addition, according to Dusk Golem, a new Resident Evil film is also in production, as Screen Gems/Constantin Films retains the rights to adapt the famous horror film and is required to release one film every five years. Since the last Resident Evil film was released in 2021, audiences can expect the new film to premiere soon (before the end of fiscal year 2026). Dusk Golem believes it will be a Resident Evil Zero adaptation to support the release of the remake.
