Croatia promised to provide Ukraine with M-84 tanks in 2024 and seems to be fulfilling its promise
In October 2024, it became known that Croatia was planning to transfer 30 M-84 tanks and 30 M-80A infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine as part of a "ring exchange" with Germany.
Here's What We Know
The AFVs of this type are already in use by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but M-84 tanks have not previously been in service with the Ukrainian army, which has caused additional interest in this agreement.
In December 2024, the Polish portal Defence24 reported on a video from Croatian social media showing the process of the alleged delivery of M-84 tanks to Germany. This may indicate that they are preparing for transit to Ukraine.

However, it is not yet known whether these tanks were repaired in Croatia or whether such work will have to be carried out in other countries. The question of which version of the tanks will be transferred by Croatia is also open: the basic M-84 or the upgraded M-84A4 Snaiper. At the same time, it is also still unclear when the tanks will finally arrive in Ukraine and enter service.

It is worth explaining that the M-84 is a Yugoslavian modification of the Soviet T-72M1 with minor improvements and modernised on-board electronics. The production of these tanks was largely based on enterprises located in Croatia.
Despite all of the above, it is worth noting that Croatia has been helping Ukraine throughout the entire invasion, including 40 D-30 howitzers,
two An-32B transport aircraft, and other important equipment and weapons.
