Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, recently shared a video in which he announced a number of changes to the company's policies for platforms such as Instagram and Threads. One of these changes is the transition from actual verification to the Community Notes model, and according to the developers, this feature is already being implemented in the Threads app.

Here's What We Know

According to the developer Alessandro Paluzzi, the Community Notes feature is already hidden in the Threads app for iPhone. With this option, users can write notes to any posts on the platform. The interface emphasises that "the note is anonymous" and directs users to an Instagram support article explaining the functionality in detail.

"If you see a post that may be inaccurate or cause misunderstanding, you can write a note with additional information, advice or clarification that may be useful to others. Your note may be published on the post if it is judged to be useful," the article says. The article also includes a button to sign up for the Community Notes programme. Meta claims that this will allow "people with different perspectives to decide when posts may be misleading and need more context".

Last week, Zuckerberg admitted that he was inspired by Platform X (formerly Twitter) to introduce Community Notes to Facebook, Instagram and Threads, as the feature already exists on the platform owned by Elon Musk. The feature will initially be available to users in the US "within a few months" and will be rolled out to other countries next year.

In addition, Zuckerberg announced that Meta will lift some restrictions on topics such as politics and human rights, as well as end its diversity, equality and inclusion programme, which has drawn criticism from some users.

At this time, there is no exact timeline for when Meta will start displaying Community Notes on Threads and other platforms.
