Tesla Supercharger access for Kia electric cars has been delayed from 15 January to spring 2025

In September 2024, Kia America announced that Kia EV6 and EV9 owners will be able to use Tesla Supercharger charging stations as early as January 2025. The tentative date was given as 15 January. However, as that day approaches, PC Magazine reported, citing a Kia spokesperson, that access will be delayed until spring.
Here's What We Know
James Bell, Kia's head of corporate communications and public relations, confirmed to reporters that "there has been a delay," but the company is working to confirm a new Tesla Supercharger availability date. The original press release announcing the announcement on kiamedia.com has also been redacted without a specific date. It now says that "access to DC fast charging stations is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025."
It's not yet clear if this delay will affect sister brands Hyundai and Genesis.
Kia doesn't seem to have changed its plans for adapters. It will provide free adapters to those who get a new Kia EV 9 (model year 2024 or 2025) or Kia EV6 (2024) after 4 September 2024. Customers who received a Kia EV6, EV9 or Niro EV before September 4 will be able to purchase the adapters from an authorised Kia dealer.
