Returnal 2 or something completely new? Housemarque Studios may announce their next game at State of Play
The first to report that Rumour: Sony will hold a State of Play at the end of January and name release dates for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Ghost of Yotei at the end of January was Alex Smith - formerly of Bend Studio and co-creator of the Syphon Filter series. At the time, he emphasised that the event would reveal the release dates for Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei.
But now he shared another interesting news.
Here's What We Know
The experienced game designer, who apparently still has connections at Sony, said that State of Play will see the announcement of a new game from Housemarque Studios, which released Returnal in 2021 - a project that many are still calling the most expensive and controversial roguelike game in the industry's history.

The obvious conclusion is that Housemarque and PlayStation Studios will be announcing Returnal 2, but the studio has previously said that they'd like to do something new, while utilising the game's development work about Selene, an astronaut who's trapped in an endless time loop and can't get out of it.
So if Housemarque makes an announcement from Housemarque at the show, it will most likely be an entirely new game.
