Recently, rumours surfaced that Samsung was planning to use TSMC to manufacture its Exynos chips in an attempt to replicate Intel's strategy. However, it is now reported that the Taiwanese chipmaker has abandoned the deal.

Here's What We Know

According to insiders, Samsung had planned to turn to TSMC to manufacture some of its chips, likely due to production issues with the second-generation 3nm process node. However, TSMC refused to work with Samsung Electronics.

However, it is important to note that this initiative has not been officially announced, so it is difficult to know exactly why the refusal was made or even whether such a meeting took place. It is possible that TSMC decided to protect its technology from its main competitor in the chip manufacturing market or that it does not have enough capacity to work with a company of Samsung's scale. Most of today's technology nodes are likely already occupied by companies like Apple and Intel.

This means that Samsung needs to clean up its production if it wants to continue to produce Exynos chips. Despite the initial difficulties, the Exynos 2500 chip is scheduled to be released later this year with the Galaxy Flip 7. Its successor, the Exynos 2600, is also in development, but the exact release date is not yet known. If Samsung's 2nm technology develops as planned, we may see these chips in some Galaxy S26 models next year.
