Ukraine's defence industry provides a third of the Armed Forces' needs for weapons and equipment. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and media representatives.

Here's What We Know

According to him, the share of Ukrainian production has increased to 33-34% compared to less than 10% at the beginning of the war. At the same time, military aid from European countries is about 30%, and from the United States - 40%.

The President also noted that Ukraine is ahead of Russia in the production of drones for various purposes. This was made possible by both domestic production and funding from international partners under the Danish model.

This initiative, launched by Denmark, involves foreign governments financing Ukrainian defence companies. Ukraine creates a list of projects, and international experts assess the production capabilities of companies. The main advantages are fast delivery times, competitive prices, and the ability to organise training and maintenance near the frontline.

In 2024, the Defence Forces received weapons worth €538 million thanks to this model. Funding came from the governments of Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, and from interest on frozen Russian assets. In particular, the countries financed the production of several dozen Ukrainian self-propelled wheeled 155 mm artillery systems "Bogdan".
