Soul Assembly, the developer of Just Dance VR and Drop Dead, has announced that it will cut 15% of its staff. This decision affected employees in the quality control, marketing, and animation departments.

Here's What We Know

Soul Assembly CEO David Solari explained that the reduction is a necessary step to adapt the studio to the requirements of future projects. "We are supporting the laid-off employees in their transition to new opportunities and thank them for their contribution," he said. "This step was necessary to position the company for success in a challenging time for the gaming industry."

Employees affected by the layoffs shared the news on LinkedIn, including 3D artist Kristina Jonaitite and quality control technician Simon Kent. One of those laid off, senior character artist Jonathan Pearman, wrote: "Looks like I'm back in the middle of the industry's turmoil."

Soul Assembly, founded in 2022 in Leamington, has more than 70 employees and has already developed several games. However, like many other studios in these challenging times, it is also facing difficulties.
