New trademarks filed with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) hint at the possible arrival of new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class coupes. The two-door models could be part of the exclusive Mythos range and this has a lot of curiosity, since with the launch of the current generation W223, Mercedes-Benz has officially announced the discontinuation of the S-Class coupe and convertible.

Here's What We Know

Two applications submitted to EUIPO show models that look like the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Coupe:

  • S-Class Coupe with the front bumper from the S63 AMG, wheels with Maybach logos and boot lid with AMG lettering
  • Maybach S680 Coupe with a split rear window.

Both applications were registered by Robu Aktiengesellschaft. The same company has applied for an ultra-limited Mercedes-AMG Bussink GT R SpeedLegend in 2021, created by Mercedes' partner HWA AG.

Context

In 2023, Mercedes announced the launch of the Mythos series, aimed at competing with brands such as Bentley and Rolls-Royce. The first model in the series, the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed, was based on the SL63 and featured a unique design with an open roof in the style of F1 cars. Its production was limited to just 250 units.

If applications for new S-Class coupes are indeed linked to the Mythos series, it could indicate Mercedes' desire to create a line of luxury cars that combine Maybach elegance with AMG performance.
