ChatGPT's Chief Product Officer to testify in the US case against Google

The US government wants to prove that Google's competitors cannot freely enter this market due to the high barriers created by the company. To do this, they invited Nick Turley, Chief Product Officer of ChatGPT, to testify and help strengthen the case.
Here's What We Know
In August 2024, the court made an important decision that Google has a monopoly on the search market. Although Google is appealing this decision, the US Department of Justice is now asking the court to determine what sanctions it should face, such as a spin-off of Chrome or a 10-year ban on the release of any browser.
To support its case, the DOJ has enlisted various Google competitors, such as OpenAI, Microsoft and Perplexity. They propose that certain executives, including Dmitry Shevelenko, Perplexity's chief commercial officer, should testify.
They want to hear from Nick Turley, as he is a key person at OpenAI, the company that develops ChatGPT. His testimony could help prove that there are serious difficulties for new players in the market due to Google's dominance.

The latest legal documents confirm that Nick Turley, ChatGPT's chief product officer, will testify in favour of the US government.
To prepare for Nick Turley's testimony, Google invited OpenAI to provide documents related to the case. However, a dispute arose between the companies over the scope of evidence. Google criticised OpenAI for not providing enough documents and demanded more information from executives, arguing that relying on Turley's testimony alone would harm their case.
OpenAI has agreed to share some documents, but refuses to provide older data that they believe does not reflect the current situation. Both companies have gone to court, and the case remains unresolved.
