Samsung Galaxy Fold 7 and Flip 7 smartphones may get a new stripped-down version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip
According to recent reports, Samsung will unveil at least four new foldable phones this year and according to new rumours, some of them will feature a new version of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
Here's What We Know
The chip, labelled SM8750-3-AB, has been quietly added to Qualcomm's website and is said to be specifically designed for foldable and ultra-thin phones. The chip is made using TSMC's 3nm N3E process and features a 7-core processor with two main cores running at up to 4.32GHz and five high-performance cores running at up to 3.53GHz.
Unlike the original Snapdragon 8 Elite, the new version has one high-performance core disabled, making it more fuel efficient and less hot. This makes it more suitable for use in foldable and ultra-thin smartphones such as the Galaxy Flip 7, Galaxy Fold 7, and Galaxy S25 Slim. The foldable devices are expected to go on sale in mid-2025, while the ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Slim is rumoured to arrive in May.
Meanwhile, some sources claim that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will exclusively use the Exynos 2500 chip.
