The media has already reported several times that Apple plans to equip not only MacBook Pro, but also the less powerful MacBook Air with OLED displays.

Today it became known that the strategy of the American giant has slightly changed.

Here's What We Know

South Korean publication The Elec received information from its own sources, according to which the start of sales of MacBook Air with OLED-display is postponed from 2027 to 2029. As the reason, journalists call the dissatisfaction of Apple management with the sales of iPad Pro, which received OLED-screens. It was expected that this innovation will attract more attention to the tablets of buyers, but interest in the devices was less than the company expected.

Although the next MacBook Air models will continue to come out with LCD displays, Apple is preparing a number of improvements, one of which will be the introduction of Oxide TFT technology. This is expected in 2027 and is expected to significantly increase contrast and colour reproduction, as well as reduce power consumption to improve battery life. This solution won't compare to OLED screens, but it will still be a much better image than the current MacBook Air models.

As for MacBook Pro with OLED displays, they will be released in 2026.
