The release of the first batches of Nintendo Switch in 2017 was marred by numerous complaints from gamers that the Joy-Cons controller sticks were quickly falling into disrepair, which manifested as stick sliding/drifting and control issues in various games. This problem was fixed in subsequent batches, but it ruined the first impression of the console.

We can not but be glad that the Japanese manufacturer has drawn conclusions from this story and will not allow the repetition of its own mistakes.

Here's What We Know

Blogger NextHandheld, who is remembered for being one of the first to start publishing Switch 2 photos , shared information obtained after disassembling the new version of the Joy-Con. He reported that Nintendo has equipped the Switch 2 controllers with a technology called the "Hall effect", named after American physicist Edwin Hall.

It involves using a magnet and electrical conductors to detect the position of an analogue stick. Unlike traditional solutions, where the physical connection to the potentiometer leads to gradual wear and inaccurate measurements, in Hall's technology there is no physical contact between the stick and the sensor.

Nintendo has made sure that the Joy-Cons Switch 2 will last for a long time so that gamers don't have to buy them for an extra amount of money.
