Balatro hits another millionth milestone: indie game has sold 5 million copies in less than a year

The indie game Balatro, which has won the hearts of gamers with its unique combination of poker and roguelike, has achieved an amazing result - 5 million copies sold in less than a year after its release.

Playstack CEO Harvey Elliott officially announced this milestone during the Pocket Gamer Connects London conference. "Selling five million copies of any game is an incredible achievement, and even more so for a game from a single developer," he said.
Balatro, created by LocalThunk, has already won a number of prestigious awards, including Best Mobile Game, Best Indie Debut Game and Best Indie Game at The Game Awards. The game was released on PC and consoles in February 2024, and the mobile version was launched in September, instantly earning around $1 million.
