Starting in February, Microsoft will make changes to the account sign-in process. Users will now automatically stay logged in unless they log out or use private browsing mode. This change is especially important for those who use public computers.

Here's What We Know

Previously, when logging into a Microsoft account, users could choose whether or not to stay logged in so that they didn't have to re-enter data. Now, however, to avoid being automatically logged in, you must use private mode or remember to log out when you are done.

If a user forgets to log out of their Microsoft account, they will be able to force log out in all browsers and apps except Xbox consoles. These changes follow the recent addition of key support for all Microsoft accounts, allowing you to use your face, fingerprint, PIN or security key to log in.
