L3Harris Technologies has been awarded a $263 million contract by the US Army to produce advanced night vision goggles - ENVG-B systems.
Here's What We Know
This is the second contract under the full-scale production programme under an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity agreement.
The ENVG-B system provides soldiers with advanced night vision technology that allows them to identify and engage targets in low light conditions, outpacing the enemy. The goggles also serve as a communications centre, improving situational awareness and integration with the Army's tactical network.
L3Harris has already delivered more than 18,000 ENVG-B systems to the US Army, which are highly effective thanks to the digital overlays. The company plans to continue investing in night vision technology, artificial intelligence, and open systems architecture to expand the capabilities of its solutions.
The ENVG-B programme has also had a positive economic impact on New Hampshire, where the production facility is located. Senator Jeanne Shaheen praised L3Harris for its contribution to the development of advanced technologies for the US armed forces.
Additionally, the company supplies other advanced night vision systems, including more than 28,000 devices for international customers.
