Volvo Car USA has announced changes for the 2025 model year, including the temporary discontinuation of the C40 and renaming of several other models.
Here's What We Know
The C40 Recharge electric crossover took a short break to return for the 2026 model year as the EC40.
Volvo has also decided to drop the "Recharge" designation for its hybrid models. Instead, these cars will be labelled as T8, which should reduce confusion between hybrid and electric models.
There will also be a name change for the electric models: the XC40 Recharge will be called the EX40, while the XC40 name will remain for mild hybrid versions. The EX40 will get a 205kW fast charging capability (previously up to 200kW) and a larger 82kWh battery (was 78kWh) in the Twin Motor version.
New for 2025 is the EX30 compact electric crossover, which will debut in the US market at a starting price of $44,900. It features a 69 kWh battery pack and a 422 hp twin-motor all-wheel drive system, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and has an EPA-estimated 253 miles of range. This model is already available in Europe.
