Microsoft has announced an update for Xbox owners that will allow them to use external USB drives with a capacity of more than 16 TB.

The update is already available for Xbox Insiders in test mode.

Key features of the new functionality:

• Support for extra-large external drives
• Automatic partitioning of drives into multiple partitions
• Save all the space for games and apps

"We're bringing support for external USB drives over 16TB so your favourite games are always ready to go!" said Microsoft.
