The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine will allocate UAH 2.5 billion to combat units for the purchase of drones every month

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine will provide direct funding to its combat units to enable them to purchase the drones they need to perform their combat missions.
Here's What We Know
In December 2024, the Ministry has already allocated UAH 2.1 billion for this purpose, and now the amount will increase to UAH 2.5 billion per month. This initiative allows commanders on the ground to quickly choose the most effective UAV models that meet the current needs at the front. The decision to fund the project was supported by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

Defence Minister Rustem Umerov noted that this will help make the Armed Forces' logistics system more flexible and the troops better equipped to perform combat missions.
Ukraine has become a centre of innovation in the field of UAVs, using them for intelligence gathering, strikes, mining and even the development of air-to-air combat drones using artificial intelligence.
At a defence industry forum in October, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine had increased its drone production capacity to 4 million units per year, well above the 2023 target. In addition, most of the drones used by the Armed Forces are domestically produced.
