It's going to be a long wait: at the end of 2024, the new Mass Effect instalment was still in the early stages of production
BioWare studio announced a new part of Mass Effect in 2020. Gamers met this news with delight, but it turned out that their joy was premature, because for all these years the game is not one step closer to release.
Here's What We Know
On Youtube there was published a video of the famous screenwriter and BioWare veteran Mark Darrah, in which he told that as of November 2024 Mass Effect 5 (the name is conditional) was at the pre-production stage - exactly in the same state as at the time of the announcement.
Darrah explained that almost the entire studio was busy developing Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and after its release the developers were sent to help other Electronic Arts teams, as their help was not yet required to work on Mass Effect 5.
It is not known at what stage Mass Effect 5 is at now, but Mark Darrah mentioned that BioWare now prefers to create one game, rather than spreading its forces on several projects, so we can expect that the "one game" will be the sequel of the cult space RPG.
According to insider information, the new part of Mass Effect will Insider: Mass Effect fans shouldn't expect the new part to be released soon. It's going to be a long wait.
