Samsung has recently unveiled a prototype of its first augmented reality (XR) headset called Project Moohan. The company said it is working on new XR experiences using Google's Android XR operating system. Project Moohan was mentioned during the keynote at the event.

Here's What We Know

The first Samsung XR headset runs on Android XR.

Today, on 22 December, after the announcement of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung demonstrated its first XR headset.

The headset runs on Android XR, which provides spatial computing. Applications are displayed in large windows in front of your eyes and you can control them with your fingers. The headset is likely to feature two ultra-high-resolution OLEDoS screens with high refresh rates.

Consistent with previous products, the new XR headset will likely have multiple cameras to record your eye and hand movements as well as your surroundings. Your surroundings will be displayed with little to no delay, allowing you to move around freely.

The headset is likely to use a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip, which has a hexa-core processor (up to 2.4GHz), Adreno GPU and ISP that can handle 12 cameras simultaneously. The device has 16 GB of RAM, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 7.

Although Samsung did not reveal the exact launch date of the new XR headset, there is a possibility that the device will go on sale by the end of this year. The price is likely to be quite high (over $2000), and the launch may be limited to a few countries at the beginning.
