This is fucking awesome! id Software has given an extensive gameplay demonstration of DOOM: The Dark Ages and revealed the game's release date
The main star of the Xbox Developer Direct was undoubtedly the shooter DOOM: The Dark Ages.
Bethesda and id Software showed a lot of gameplay footage and revealed the main features of the game.
Here's What We Know
The developers reminded that if in DOOM Eternal the player felt like an elusive fighter, then in DOOM: The Dark Ages the Executioner of Doom will become a heavy armoured and slow tank. The main feature of the shooter is a chain-driven shield that can be used to block and deflect enemy projectiles, as well as parry melee attacks and deliver devastating blows in return, after which demons can be sawed off or killed in other equally bloody ways. You can also throw the shield at enemies and overcome various obstacles with its help.
Studio id Software promises a complex and spectacular combat system with a huge number of weapons and ways to destroy enemies, spacious and diverse locations for exploration and the most ambitious story in the history of DOOM, which will be a great starting point for new players, as well as serve as a prequel for DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal.
In addition to huge gothic cathedrals and buildings, players will meet equally giant demons, which they will fight with an appropriately sized battle mech, and will also be able to ride a dragon equipped with machine guns. Everything looks as spectacular and flashy as possible.
DOOM: The Dark Ages will offer a huge choice of accessibility settings, players will be able to perfectly match the difficulty of each element of the game, as well as slow down or speed up all the actions in the shooter.
When We Can Expect It
Finally, the official release date for DOOM: The Dark Ages has been announced - 15th May. The game will be available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, and will be available on Game Pass.
Pre-orders for the game are already open.
